Interactive Storytelling
Jerry Bruckheimer is entering into the world that we gamers know so well… a world where there are no limits to what path a narrative will take. Today it was announced that indeed Jerry Bruckheimer is teaming up with the folks at Viacom Inc. and MTV to create a forum for interactive storytelling like never seen before.
The man responsible for some of the best loved series of our time from Top Gun to CSI, plans to bring his sense of story to the video game industry. Although it is unknown what sort of budget Bruckheimer will be working with as he develops immersive stories, it is bound to be a savings over movie production. The last installment of Pirate of the Caribbean had a budget of $300 million while the average video game costs between $20 million.
Without the limitations of gravity and physics and Bruckheimer’s deft ability to tell stories that we love, we at IF are itching to see what he does.
